Di Yungsta Finally Explains the Story Behind His Breakthrough Hit, "Wanyoma" For years, fans have debated the meaning of "Wanyoma," the title of Di Yungsta's breakthrough song. The vocalist has now shared how the title came about and why many people misunderstood it. According to Di Yungsta, the word wasn't planned. He first heard it while listening to a beat created by a fellow artist from his village. One of the instruments in the song sounded like it was saying "Wanyoma." The sound stuck in his head, but at the time, he had no idea how he was going to use it. He recalled that he used to travel to shows with Sambwoy Gh. At one of those concerts, Sambwoy started dancing to an instrumental, and the word "Wanyoma" immediately came back to his mind. He felt it perfectly matched the rhythm of the beat, so he asked his DJ to get the instrumental. As soon as they returned from the show, he headed straight to the studio and recorded the song. After the song became a hit, many people interpreted the title as a vulgar phrase in Waali, believing it meant, "Come and have sex with me." Di Yungsta said the misunderstanding became so widespread that even his own mother called him to ask what kind of song he had released. Before that conversation, however, a Nigerian man in the village where he lived had asked him whether he knew the meaning of "Wanyoma." When Di Yungsta admitted he didn't, the man explained that, in a Nigerian language, it means “a beautiful girl." Di Yungsta said that explanation made perfect sense because it matched the message in the lyrics. Since then, he has embraced that meaning, saying it also helped clear the misconception that he had intentionally used a vulgar expression as the title and theme of the song. He told his mother that the title was never meant to carry the sexual meaning many people had attached to it in Waali, but rather the meaning of “a beautiful girl." So he is saying it out to the public that, his breakthrough song title means ”Wanyoma” means “a beautiful girl” #DumbaReports
