@offenceregister: ABDULHAMID ALAMMAR ST LEONARDS TAXI SEX ASSAULTS In March 2026, Abdulhamid Alammar, 34, of the Baldslow area of St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, was convicted at Lewes Crown Court of multiple sexual assaults. The self-employed taxi driver hijacked his own vehicle to kidnap a passenger and drive her to a secluded location in Hastings to carry out the predatory attacks. SERIAL TAXI KIDNAPPINGS AND ASSAULTS An investigation conducted by Sussex Police established that the first attack occurred on 29 November 2024, after a woman in her 30s booked a taxi home. Instead of taking her to her destination, Alammar drove to a remote area to assault her. The prosecution proved that these crimes only came to light during a separate investigation into a second sexual assault reported by another woman in Hastings in April 2025. In a trial in October 2025, Alammar was convicted of sexual assault related to the April incident. His latest conviction in March 2026 for sexual assault and causing a person to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity confirmed a persistent pattern of targeting lone women within the Hastings and St Leonards areas. BREACH OF TRUST AND PENDING SENTENCING During the proceedings, the sentencing judge noted that Alammar’s actions represented a severe breach of public trust, as taxi drivers are expected to provide safe passage. Following his conviction on 6 March 2026, Alammar was remanded in custody. He is currently awaiting a formal sentencing date where he faces a significant custodial term for both sets of convictions, which will reflect the serial and predatory nature of his offending. STATUS AND CASE DETAILS Legal Status: CONVICTED (Multiple counts of sexual assault across 2025 and 2026). Custodial Status: REMANDED IN CUSTODY (Incarcerated while awaiting his formal sentencing hearing). Sex Offenders Register: Notification requirements will be activated FOR LIFE upon sentencing. Licence Status: Taxi licence revoked permanently; indefinitely barred from all public transport roles. Origin: Baldslow, St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex. MONITORING AND PUBLIC SAFEGUARDS Alammar will be managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by the police and the National Probation Service in East Sussex. Due to his predatory conduct in Hastings and his use of a licensed private hire vehicle to trap passengers, his management is subject to intensive scrutiny. His physical profile and DNA are logged on the national police database. Following his eventual sentencing, his lifelong registration on the Sex Offenders Register will strictly monitor his residence and travel. Any future attempt to work in a position of trust, enter the private hire trade, or breach his notification rules will trigger an immediate arrest and recall to prison. 💬 WHAT DO YOU THINK? Given that this offender used his licensed taxi to kidnap and assault multiple lone women who trusted him to take them home safely, do you believe licensing authorities need to implement stricter biometric monitoring for taxi drivers, or should vehicle-based predators face mandatory maximum prison terms?
