@fba.legacy: Most people have seen the Juneteenth flag. The red. The white. The blue. The star. But most people were never taught the name of the man who created it. Ben Haith. Also known as "Boston Ben." In the early 1990s, he noticed something important. Juneteenth celebrations were growing. But there was no single symbol people across the country could recognize. So he created one. Haith chose red, white, and blue to show that Foundational Black Americans are part of the American story. Not outside of it. The flag's star represents freedom. Its burst design points to a new beginning. And over time, that flag became one of the most recognized symbols of Juneteenth. Today it flies at schools. Museums. Community events. And Juneteenth celebrations across America. One man saw a missing piece. And helped create a symbol that millions now recognize. That story deserves to be remembered. #eachoneteachone

Black Americans never said that people outside the Black American ethnicity could not celebrate Juneteenth. That’s a gaslighting lie. What many Black Americans have said is simple: if you’re going to celebrate Juneteenth, celebrate it in its original form, its honest form, and its dignified form. Understand what it is, why it exists, and what it commemorates. We don’t walk into other people’s independence celebrations and demand that they be remixed to center us. That’s the issue. The problem isn’t participation; it’s dilution. Too many dishonest voices try to turn a straightforward conversation into conflict instead of acknowledging a simple truth: everyone can celebrate Juneteenth, but it should be celebrated for what it actually represents. Don’t turn it into a competition. Don’t turn it into “Juneteenth and…” or “Juneteenth but…” Let it stand on its own. Respect the history. Respect the people. Respect the meaning. Celebrate it for what it is.

I want more Black American History films. Especially focusing on the faith movement and how through spirituals brought freedom and deliverance. Black oral traditions are not talked about enough IMO especially in the Christian community. I’m so fascinated and deeply moved by the Holy Spirits movement through these people whom are an important and influential part of our country.
