It's actually quit easy to understand how this all works: Anime gave more spectacular scenes to naoya and inderitaclyngave him mire feats however we can't count them in scaling him since it's obviously just to make the anime better.

projection sorcery follows the laws of physics within his current speed and what’s possible in acceleration, if he’s moving at mach 1, then his next projection MUST be near or a little higher than mach 1, which is how he constantly speeds up, meaning he can eventually accelerate more and more and eventually reach mach 22.

naoya couldn't havw ran the mountain in 7 seconds because the 24 frame rule says that you have to split your movement into 24 frames in one second or else you get frozen for a second which maki didnt after naoya applied the affect meaning naoya ran that mountain in a second
