@worldbirdstl: What time is it? It’s baby season! Since March we’ve been getting many injured or orphaned baby raptors into our raptor hospital that need our help. Our number 1 goal is always to release these birds back out into the wild when they’re healthy, or even re-nest them with their parents if possible. This baby American Barn Owl in the video did not come to us through the wild, but instead was hatched here at World Bird Sanctuary as part of our breeding program. We breed American Barn Owls for release into the wild in Missouri. This species faces dangers from habitat loss and rodent poisoning. You can help by simply not using rodent poison, educating others to not use it, and by supporting places that participate in conservation efforts like World Bird Sanctuary. While the baby in the video will not be released, he will be used to help diversify our breeding pairings of barn owls when he grows up. We’re excited to have him with us and we know he will be a big help to his species!
