When Nas used the stan line it was just meant to poke at jay wanting Nas's rap credibility along with jay allowing someone to out rap him on his own track. It wasn't this deep. It was just clever word play and using what was popular at the time to inflict emotional damage. Plus it didn't help jay out that a proper response track to ether came a year or two later after the fact with takeover 2. That's how I see it.
