Honestly he was himself with care. He didn’t have to just pretend with her. She knew who he was inside and out. With Elena he had put himself on a pedestal, the good vampire so that was what Elena expected. That’s really why him and Elena didn’t work out. He wasn’t really honest about who he was in the beginning. Stefan and care were better for each other. They are probably the healthiest ship on that show
