Omg. You have a young person asking you to guide them through a very important stage in their life. He doesn’t want you to know the answer to every question. He just wants you to listen & be honest. That being said, may the odds be ever in your favor.

I'm confused in European, what age is grade 9?
I'm inclined to say you have to do it for a year. if it's bad it will be the last year. or you have to give this boy 1 on 1 time, like an advanced class just for him

I have a view point from that child’s POV. I had a horrid third grade male teacher who was so horrific that I went to visit my grandmother and Georgia that summer and refused to come home because I had another male teacher for fourth grade. My grandmother wouldn’t send me home unless my parents agreed to switch my teacher. Mr. Noble was his name and he called me from my parents cell phone on meet the teacher night and he alone is who convinced me to come home and let him teach me what’s remarkable about this man. It was his second year teaching, and I watched it every year. He kept being the same teacher who cared that much about his students. He taught his grade the following year in a portable right next to the fifth grade portable I was in. I was diagnosed with dyslexia. He came and got me out of class on his lunch breaks and would read with me to help further my ability make me that good student make me confident and show me the power within myself. I asked him at the end of my fifth grade year. I begged him if he would move to middle school because he was like a guardian angel that God had sent to my life to help me see through the bullying. The hardships the difficulties he was like a guiding light he told me he couldn’t my seventh grade year. He found out where I was, and he made the move to my middle school then he moved to drivers at my high school school year, and he continued to teach me and educate me in that one teacher made such a difference in my education in my trust in the educators that are in my life he helped to grow my confidence within myself. He may have moved up all those times for one single student, but I promise you the lives he reached, wasn’t just mine. He found a way to impact every student he encountered. He included his students when he proposed to his wife. He included his students when he released his first baby announcement in Joanna. I cry as I write this because you’re that teacher you are that educator who brings light knowledge, education, compassion, and empathy and understanding to the lives of these kids. They know they can count on you and they can come to you and you make learning fun. Every student you teach will….

And that’s how I ended up with grade 6 next year. I swore I would never ever teach grade 6 ever ever ever again… I avoided it for 13 years… but then I got the best grade 5 class this year and so… I’m teaching grade 6 next year. 😁

You need to teach Gr. 9. Do it for all those kids that have just "one more question".

It would be worth a chance go for it, but saying Grade 8 or 9 doesn’t answer the question of what age do you teach, is a grade 8 the same in every country?

Yes, I think you should do it. You were gonna be the one who inspires this kid and you are his safe person there and he wants you to continue to mold him so you need to follow him to the next level in grade 9 he need you.

A teacher as thoughtful, insightful, and nurturing as you, could just be what that grade 9 chaos needs! Show them that you can be more than a chaos gremlin!
