@dramyexplains: Alcohol is classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the World Health Organisation. This is the same category as tobacco, but most people have never been told why. In this video I break down exactly how alcohol causes DNA damage, why it’s linked to at least seven different cancer types, how it affects oestrogen levels in a way that’s relevant to breast cancer risk, and why inflammation adds a second layer of risk on top of the direct damage. I also talk about what the evidence actually says about safe levels of drinking, because it’s probably not what you think. This one sits alongside my wider mini-series on how cancer develops at a genetic level, so don’t forget to check out my other videos if you want to start from the beginning. #alcoholawareness #LearnOnTikTok #cancer #cancerawareness #stem
moderate drinking might not be harmless, but it's also low risk which is another way to look at it. being alive means risk and managing risk. getting in a car, having sex, going out at night, all carries risk

i've always been curious if there is evidence if longevity or concentration of use is more toxic - e.g. drinking low-moderate amounts more regularly vs fully getting drunk at a somwhat proportionally lower frequency and not drinking between that

I have a couple of questions:
1) does hand sanitizer cause hand cancer?
2) does low percentage alcohol like 0.5% beer cause cancer or is it too low to do so?

One thing I’ve found is there are few/no studies of relatively low levels of consumption. I appreciate that this is hard to study scientifically but everything I’ve read lumps everyone who drinks sometimes but one drink a day or less in the same category when obviously that’s a wide range of drinking levels. Most people I know drink but far less than one per day and I’d be interested to know the relative risks.

Have any studies been done on the risks of heavy drinking younger in life (e.g. in your 20s) - does the body heal itself over time or has the damage to the DNA structure been permanent?

Out of interest why can’t we take folate supplement if we drink to minimise the risk?
