Yeah, I definitely knew we lost the plot when people tried to differentiate being biracial with a non black mom and with a black mom. There is no difference, both are biracial.

my brother is half white half filipino and he’s fairly tanned. would he be a “person of color” cause he’s definitely considered mixed as he doesn’t look white but i just don’t know how people from asian and hispanic backgrounds fit into the conversation. i know there’s afro latinos but also i see a lot of non afro latinos continue to say racial slurs specifically for black people because they “have the pass” or think they’re experiencing the same issues which give them the right to say it. i’ve been using the term people of color to refer to anyone who’s not white, but i don’t know if that’s correct now.

Phew… bc I was starting to worry about my ppl. Id add its all about how yt ppl perceive the “other”. “Blackness” exist because they created it. Like if you walk into a room full of yt ppl, how they can see/treat you. You can be biracial but perceived as yt as well. So you can be biracial and yt. That doesnt take away your own cultural capital. Id go further to say if both of your parent are Black biracial—I wouldnt call you biracial bc both of your parents know the Black experience. But you would be considered mix.
