whereas the story of cats being domesticated is quite literally they just showed up to human settlements and we collectively were just like "ight"

The Golden Lady 💛 :
40,000ish years ago creation of the human / canine bond began the ultimate symbiotic relationship and altered both of their individual evolutions through cooperative convergence. This is why No human should be without a dog. They’re not just companions. They’re a necessity in our core programming 🐾💛

Humans have an amazing ability to bond with just about any animal given time & inclination. 200 years from now cheetahs are probably going to be a household pet.

THERES AN EXPLANATION! Humans have such an evolutionary love for their babies that features associated with babies (big eyes, soft features) make up naturally loving towards them! (This is EXTREMELY simplified)

Olivia Marie :
I’m pretty sure true domestication only works when the animal has a social hierarchy similar to humans. Like wolves are pack creatures, so that’s how they were able to truly domesticate them. If an animal is solitary and doesn’t have group social dynamics I don’t think it leads to true domestication
