Greenfly have been everywhere this year, and if you’re anything like me, your roses, salvias and just about everything else have taken a hit. But! I’ve got a little DIY recipe that works absolute wonders, thanks to Nancy Birtwhistle and her book Clean & Green. Let me say upfront - this is completely illegal to sell in the UK, but making it at home for your own use is fair game. So, here's how to whip up your very own miracle aphid spray: Grab an empty spray bottle and a funnel. Add one teaspoon of eco washing up liquid (any brand will do), two teaspoons of cooking oil (whatever you have to hand - sunflower, rapeseed, etc), and then a couple of drops of clove bud oil - this last bit is the magic that deters future infestations. Finally, pour in 500ml of water, slowly so it doesn’t foam up too much, and give it a gentle shake. Important note: Only spray this late at night just before bed. Why? Because while it’ll blitz the greenfly, it can also harm beneficial bugs like ladybirds. But by evening, most of the good guys have retreated to their nighttime spots, leaving you free to target the pests without harming your garden ecosystem. I’ve used this exact mix for the past two years and it’s been a game-changer. No harsh chemicals, just a simple homemade solution that works. But remember, this is for personal use only. You can't sell it, so let’s keep it between us green-thumbed friends. #aphidcontrol #greengardenfix #diygardenspray #organicgardening #naturalpestcontrol #bugkillerhack #gardeningtips #gardenproblemsolved #ecoandsafe #greengardening
