@moneywithpete: Most people in the UK will make one financial decision that defines the rest of their life. And most of them will never stop to question whether it was actually the right one. We follow two brothers who each inherited £150,000 in 2004. One did exactly what society told him to do. One didn't. Twenty years later the gap between them will change how you think about money forever. We break down the real numbers behind UK property. Not the headline figure everyone talks about at dinner parties. The actual number you walk away with once you factor in stamp duty, legal fees, maintenance costs and two and a half decades of mortgage interest paid straight to the bank. Then we look at what a simple index fund did with the same money over the same period. No stock picking. No risk taking. Just time and compounding doing what they do best. The result isn't close. If you've spent your life being told that getting on the property ladder is the only sensible path to building wealth in the UK, this video will make you think twice. Pound Smart Pete breaks down the financial systems that shape your life and shows you how to make them work for you instead of against you. Follow for a new video every week. Pound Smart Pete :
Would you rather own a £300k house outright or have £300k invested?

And where is brother 2 living? With parents? Renting? Living means you still need to pay your bills

the first thing the market is going up and down, brother number 2 can risk loosing everything on the market, brother number 1 should buy more than 1 property and rent out over 10 years he would have more money. I know someone who had £24000 in debts and now she has 6 millions in properties

Something amiss here. If brother 1 has paid 150,000 why pay interest for 25 years? If he has rented it out, why the rental income is not accounted for? If brother 2 invested all his inheritance in stock market, how much rent he must have paid during the same 25 years? A biased report in favor of stock market.

After doing an in depth study on the matter using ai, and comparing other options, its really not the best way to build wealth these days.

Unless brother 2 already has his own home or somewhere to live this is nonsense. Brother 1 has a place to live for 20 years, brother 2 will pay a fortune in rent over those 20 years.
