@childocdtherapist: Sometimes the hardest part of OCD isn’t what someone is thinking, it’s feeling like they can’t tell anyone. Many people with OCD stay silent because OCD convinces them that saying the thought out loud will make it happen, that others will think they’re “crazy,” or that asking for help means they’ll be forced into situations they aren’t ready for. From the outside, it can look like they’re shutting you out. But underneath the silence is often fear, shame, and a desperate wish for someone to understand without making things worse. If your child has a hard time talking about their OCD, don’t assume they don’t want help. Often, they just don’t know how to let you in. If you’d like to learn how to create conversations that build trust and help your child feel safe opening up, listen to my podcast episode What Good Communication Actually Looks Like with Anxiety and OCD. I don’t have OCD but I sometimes feel off or not myself and feel like this and I don’t really know what is wrong and so can’t talk about it. Have learned to start doing something, having a love one near even with them just being present. Also love your kitchen lights the look like octopus

that "please help" at the end got me 😭 I've been struggling with severe OCD for years. well I've had it my whole life, but I didn't truly understand what it was until a few years ago when it went from mild to super severe. and it just blew up and took over. I like your videos. I show them to my husband often to help explain what's going on in my head. thank you for sharing.

i sometimes also shut down when my parents want me to talk about ocd just because it's in my head all day long and sometimes you just only want to be comforted by them instead of using the only time you have with them talking about it. that only makes your day even more filled with ocd thoughts
