WAR WAR was meant to be the debut album of an unlikely duo: Kanye West & James Blake. The project was presumably scrapped in the wake of West’s numerous antisemitic rants. However, insiders have claimed that the project was still being worked on in early 2023. The version of the album being transcribed is a copy from October 2022. Due to contrary popular belief, it was said No I.D. contributed to this project but later on in 2025, James Blake said No I.D. didn’t do any work on the album at all. The project combined West’s imperfect yet soulful vocals with Blake’s beautiful production and smooth singing to create a melancholic, moving body of work. Even though the project was never finished, it was shaping up to be one of West’s most beautiful, touching on the passing of his long-time friend Virgil Abloh and his divorce from Kim Kardashian. According to James Blake, though it ended up with the name WAR, all of the songs were about love. Not much is publicly known about WAR. Sessions for the project began around April 2022. In West’s third Drink Champs interview, he referred to these sessions as work for “their album.” Three songs from the project were played at a party featured on Naomi Campbell’s Instagram, with the song “What I Would Have Said at Virgil’s Funeral” being previewed in full at Yeezy Season 9 shortly thereafter. Attached is a photo from September showing West in the studio with Blake and No ID. The project will presumably never see an official release by either Ye or James Blake, considering James Blake said Ye is the only one who stopped the project from being released. #ye #untitled #yeezy #xyzbca #long
