@britt2daknee: If you struggle with self-hatred or shame around being gay, understand that shame is often learned long before it is ever questioned. Many people were taught directly or indirectly that love, belonging, acceptance, or even safety were conditional upon being someone different than who they truly are. Healing begins when you recognize that shame is not evidence that something is wrong with you. Shame is evidence that you were exposed to messages that told you there was something wrong with you. Start by questioning where your beliefs came from. Ask yourself whether the voices criticizing you are actually your own or if they belong to family, religion, culture, or past experiences. Spend time around people who celebrate authenticity rather than demand conformity. Allow yourself to grieve the years spent hiding, apologizing, or trying to earn acceptance. Most importantly, stop treating your sexuality as a problem to solve. Being gay is simply one aspect of who you are. Your kindness, character, integrity, resilience, and capacity to love are what define you. Self-hatred keeps you small because it convinces you that you must earn the right to exist. Healing happens when you realize you never needed permission to be yourself in the first place. You were worthy of love, belonging, and acceptance the entire time.#shame #grief #loss

I’ve learned that your peace is better than no peace. Regardless of what the story is. Life is too short to not have peace and quiet. I’m happy you’re finally at peace with it.
