I don’t like being pressured by an artist either. I just want a design that is similar to what I asked for but in their style and usually it’s never in the same place that I think I want it cause it doesn’t look good when it’s placed on there. You have to be flexible as both the artist and the client.

I think the best tattoos come when you let the artist use their talents and experience. I usually have an idea of what i want, placements. And if I know they understand my vibe, then I love just giving free reign

Most interactions with tattoo artists and shops I’ve had are awkward lol. It’s like buying a car. Love the new car, hate the process to get it. lol

One of the artists at the shop I was at gave me the garlic bread from her lunch order and I helped the staff move a giant rug in the lobby when we were taking breaks lmfao

Is it a faux pas to ask a tattoo artist to copy another tattoo artist’s work? For example, let’s say I find a tattoo design that I absolutely love, but the original artist is too far away, too expensive, or booked solid. Is it acceptable to ask a local tattoo artist to recreate it as closely as possible, or is that generally considered disrespectful within the tattoo community?

I walked into a consult because I wanted some small filler for my patchwork sleeve and help deciding what would look good/ fit in the gaps. I was prepared with several ideas/vibes on a pintrest board and she told me I just had to know which image I wanted because she wasn't going to pick for me & gave 0 input.

If you are uncomfortable at any point prior to your tattoo, find a different artist. There are so many great ones, you can find the right person.

I honestly come in with a vague idea and then give the artist free reign on interpretation and placement. It’s how I get really cool tattoos that I could never think of myself.

I'm more scared of making a deposit, being unable to come to an agreement, and not getting the money back :/ my first tattoo wasnt made until I showed up for my appt and I felt cornered and unable to make changes
