I notice a lot of people on their phone in restaurants. I try to put mine away and not look look at it . I think attention spans are getting less and less.

I had that happen to me tonight. Guy grabbed the seat so he could watch the World Cup Match. And as I sat there, trying to engage a conversation, he was between the game and kept checking out what was going on at the bar.

Also, you live in a place where superficiality is an accepted part of culture. Not a fulfilling way to live, but there’s a high probability that they’re not self aware enough to recognize the lack of fulfillment. Of course, not everyone is ready for depth.
