I think too many people misinterpreted “high-quality color copies” to me they did not need certified copies from the original source and too many people ended up sending printouts from geological websites simply citing the source rather than going to the source and for those missing documentation while they provided supplemental documentation in lieu of specific documentation they failed to provide a certified letter from the governmental agency or archive stating that the original record was not found or does not exist we’re in their supplemental evidence could replace it. A lot of people it seems got approved on that misunderstanding and I think a lot of people have submitted applications already that are going to have them returned for this exact reason.

This process is not a revocation of citizenship (though it can lead to one), but it is a review. IRCC's letter asks for the paper certificate back while their application file is re-examined.

A processing error was discovered and it’s getting rectified. As a born and raised Canadian, I am happy to hear this is being corrected now and not years down the line and possibly thousands of applications approved in error.
