The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has announced plans to introduce a “Show Your PSP Payment Receipt” operation in the Apapa–Iganmu area as part of efforts to improve waste management and reduce illegal dumping. When contacted by Ikeja Record, the agency did not provide a specific date for when the operation will begin. However, LAWMA told Ikeja Record that the enforcement exercise will commence after it concludes an ongoing waste evacuation intervention and sensitisation campaign in the area. According to the agency, the operation will require residents, property owners, and commercial premises within the Apapa–Iganmu axis to present proof that they are registered with a Private Sector Participant (PSP) waste service. Residents will also be required to show evidence that they are paying for waste collection services. LAWMA said properties without valid PSP arrangements often contribute to illegal dumping and the formation of refuse blackspots across the city. The agency noted that Apapa–Iganmu will serve as a pilot location for the operation, adding that the initiative may be extended to other local governments across Lagos State if it proves successful. What do you think about this operation? Would it help tackle illegal dumping and refuse blackspots in Lagos? Let us know in the comments. ✍🏾: Omon Okhuevbie 📹: Omon Okhuevbie 💻: Solomon Elusoji Follow @ikejarecord for more stories about Ìkẹjà and neighbouring communities. #ikejarecord #lagosnews #trendingnow
