I blame society’s demonisation of certain topics, while totally refusing to explain why they feel that way. Imo, I should be able to ask any person about any topic and they should be able to give me at least a basic view of it and why they hold that view. But if your best response to ‘why is inc3st bad?’ ‘Uhh well that’s your sister. That’s bad’ then that’s it actually good enough. You don’t understand your own views on it well enough to speak on the subject, never mind argue with me on mine.

There are people who will use mentally ill people as an example of "fiction affecting reality". For example, people love to bring up the slenderman stabbing. Saying that because they consumed slenderman content it influence those girls to almost unalive their best friend. Completely leaving out those girls were already mentally ill and weren't surpervised or given the proper help by their parents.

I genuinely believe anti discourse is rooted almost exclusively in misogyny and queerphobia. How come the word "fetishizing" is only brought up in same sex pairings? I'm not gonna pretend that there aren't cishet women/men who fetishize gay men/lesbians but the general public doesn't KNOW who is writing things like fanfiction. You don't know if the author is gay, trans, aro, ace, nonbinary, and quite frankly it shouldn't matter as long as people are chill about it. I'm non-binary and bisexual, so for me writing both mlm and wlw stories are ways to explore my queerness in a controlled and safe place

As a lesbian who was raised mormon, and therefore identified as bi for most of my life due to the deeply ingrained comphet, fiction has been the place for me to safely process comphet. I know now that I am a lesbian and will only ever be attracted to women and fem-aligned non-binary people people, but growing up in an environment where I had been groomed to assume I was attracted to men IS a trauma that needs a healthy outlet, as being with men in real life before I knew I was 100% gay was psychologically harmful for me. I know it's not as intense as people blaming dark fiction for crimes, but I often feel as though people have similar trains of thought when lesbians express being attracted to FICTIONAL men, saying that we can't be lesbians because of the fiction we engage in. I AM a lesbian, regardless of the FICTIONAL characters I have FICTIONAL crushes on.

I’m p sure that they can. When I was in school, we used to visit art museums sometimes. Kids in mine and other grades would point at classical art that had nudity and called it prn. They knew that it wasn’t, but they liked to rile up the teachers and classmates who tried to correct them.
