This is 100% true. For all of us. It’s hard to trust someone enough to tell the truth if you know you aren’t safe being vulnerable with them. Same goes for kids who are scared of their parents. They become very skilled at keeping secrets and lying like a pro to protect themselves from whatever shame or abuse they will feel if they are honest. It’s hard but important to allow our loved ones to come to us about anything and to try to understand and work through things together. I have definitely been guilty of reacting rather than being still and present through honesty that hurts. Something that gets easier the more it’s practice for sure!

True. Many of us say we want the truth but can’t handle it if it’s something we don’t like. That makes them close up or lie.
