Sheva is oddly ignored I see literally nothing about her which is odd because characters in the game you literally play as her in are so popular (that era of them specifically) ada is hated on but sheva is ignored and I wonder why that is

Luis is another Birkins or any other selfish, genius mad scientist in re. His research on the Plagas. He is fascinating and wants to know more about them. He is using his research/amber as payment so that other organization can send someone to help him escape the island (Wesker/Ada). Basically his situation is the same as Ada in og re2 where she gave the sample to Wesker so that she can escape RC. Maybe i am weird cause i don't like Luis that much. He is responsible directly for the virus, while Ada is a middleman.

I don't get the ada hate personally but I understand the animosity towards mia. I think the only reason I like Luis is his whole arc in the remake hinged on trying to redeem himself and it ended as it should have. I feel like we got that with ada in re6 too. she's more reserved so she didn't have as much exposition to her moral dilemma though.

I think charm helps with some of the characters. It’s from my point of view so I could be wrong. And I think most of the hate comes from people who ship Leon with other characters like Claire. But I could be wrong

Sheva is loved because she is WOC woman that white people are easily able to digest because she has a moral compass, not to dismiss her as a character, I love Sheva but people are easily able to decode her and thus are given a reason to “accept” her into this space. Ada is a WOC character where it is easy to hide behind hate for her because she is a nuanced, very grey character, and it just shows given the chance people will hate on female POCs if they can get away with it subconsciously or not. That’s why this talk is extremely important.

I’d argue like half of the men characters people adore are morally grey and have done way worse than Ada and yet Ada still gets the worst of it from what I’ve seen. 😅 Sheeva just deserves more love from capcom and fans. She’s kinda just forgotten which is so sad. She also deserves to do more than she did in the game she was in. Honestly would love see her expanded more in the inevitable remake of 5. Love Sheva. 🫶

Sheva doesn’t get as much hate cause on the opposite end of things the game fetishizes her down to her costume and demonizes her place of origin(yes zombies r the point of the game but lightening her skin from her concept art and factoring real world context onto the game, it borders minstrelsy with the fact the setting is just a murder sandbox for the white main characters)

I actually liked the dynamic with Chris and Sheva, personally. It kind of just boiled down to "two professionals working together and kicking ass" and the lack of romantic dynamic between them made it feel like Sheva was given more of a chance to be her own person. :)

Mia hate is much more direct/heated than Ada hate though. Ada hatred is usually quite juvenile and petty. But people will really get on Mia about transporting a BOW and lying to Ethan (even though we have beloved characters like Wesker who tried to end humanity??) I suspect some form of misogyny is behind Mia hate though, because she's really not that bad in the Resident Evil universe. I fear Ethan has actually done worse things than Mia, but, yk, it was for his family so everyone loves Ethan. Mia and Ada both have different stigma surrounding them imo

i hate how people only ship 2 characters together now like if they are a women and a man, they must be shipped together like what happened to friendships? or even male and male female and female, like they are friends they don’t need to be a couple 😭

I actually wrote a paper about representation in media (specifically my ethnicity, Hispanic) but in movies from like the beginning, poc women are portrayed at the seducers or the temp girl and the white women is the the main character ends up with. And also just looking back at the lack of mixed race couples esp before the last 10/15 years in media. It all backs up what you’re saying and the subtle ways it reinforces negative thinking. Anyways, you’re making great and valid points 🫶
