This is why I’m so grateful for my wife. She met me when I had nothing. She helped me with rent, gave me money when I needed it, and even gave me rides when I was too proud to ask for help. She believed in me when things were tough. Now that my life has turned around, I make sure she never has to worry. Whatever she wants, she gets. I was able to help her leave her job, and now she’s running her own bar and restaurant, with a second location currently being built. And to top it off we take trips two to three times a year.

repost from @slash repost from @90sdecoded Deftones performing “My Own Summer (Shove It)” Live on the 14th of October, 1997 at Nulle part ailleurs An overabundance of sunshine is rarely something associated with notoriously grey and overcast Seattle, but that’s exactly what inspired this song. Deftones recorded their second album, Around the Fur, at Studio Litho in Seattle between April and June 1997. The studio was owned by Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard, who paused work on the band’s fifth album, Yield, so Deftones could use the space, with Pearl Jam relocating to Studio X elsewhere in the city. The band spent their nights recording and partying, leaving frontman Chino Moreno increasingly frustrated by the morning sunlight pouring through his windows. It became such a nuisance that he covered them with aluminium foil. It was during this period that Moreno wrote the lyrics to the song, contrary to the widespread but unsupported internet claim that they originated during Seattle’s unusually hot summer of 1994. The track itself came together in the studio. The “big star” in the opening line is the literal sun, while the command to “shove it” is directed at telling it to get out of the sky. That was the song’s starting point. As with much of Moreno’s writing, however, the lyrics were deliberately broad enough to take on a more metaphorical meaning. Rather than limiting the song to its real-life inspiration, they leave room for listeners to draw their own interpretations. #Music #Deftones iiii]; )'
