@mtn.alice: Peak performance =/= peak health. In almost all health circumstances I would rather be slightly overweight than slightly underweight. Especially when our definition of "overweight" is still based off the BMI which has no validity as a metric of health.

YES 👏 when I started hiking years ago, I had a hard time because I was gaining weight. No one ever told me that gaining weight was healthy! And actually needed for me to be stronger.

I went from 125 to 145 in 1 year. Now, I can hike longer, walk better at festivals, and feel stronger. And yea it’s some body fat, but I realized I needed that!!!! Absolutely agree

Endurance and ultra endurance athletes can benefit highly from having a bit more body fat before any race, I mean, at some point you can’t even force yourself to eat enought to not be in a calorie deficit, even bodybuilders doing a cut for a show will usually be at their weakest at that stage

I have been sitting at 180 for 6 months now and actively working out... I want that number on the scale to go down bc weight culture but actually my lifts are going up and my waist measurement is going down while weight holds steady

Thank you for this ❤️❤️my performance is so much better at a slightly higher weight but I still fight it and get so frustrated. Working on letting my body be where it wants to be

while i agree, i do want to add that ariana’s words were never “this version of my body is the healthiest” she has only ever said the previous version of her body was the unhealthiest.

YES! I wish I had known this in college when I was eating enough for the first time, exercising enough for the first time, happy, and gaining weight! And that’s actually beautiful and how it’s supposed to be! Instead I wasted so years wishing and idealizing something else. I hope every woman, particularly young woman, sees this 🫶
