I was told a couple of years ago that I would need to have a minimum of $100,000 and wait 10 years for my mum’s visa to be processed by a lawyer, or have half a million dollars in a bank account for an express visa process. I asked why, and he said it was so that I could cover any costs or pension support that my mum might need. fair enough my don't need much to live. Since then, I have given up on bringing her here permanently. Instead, I will continue to visit her yearly and let her stay with my sister and her family.
