@looktothegut: MCAS and histamine intolerance sufferers are always looking for ways to calm mast cells naturally. Published research found ginger performed similarly to Claritin in allergic rhinitis, but through a completely different mechanism by helping prevent mast cell activation before histamine is released. Ok, but let’s be honest about how much ginger a human would need to consume to have the same effect as an antihistamine.

My spikes seem to happen when I'm driving. I keep ginger chews in my vehicle and when I feel it coming on I pop one of those in and immediately I feel release.

I’m going to have to look into this. Continuous antihistamine use causes me to have extremely agitated spurts out of nowhere & weird dreams. It doesn’t matter if it’s the kinds that crosses the blood brain barrier or not. I just can’t handle them anymore unless it’s absolutely necessary for a painful flare.

Warning. Claritin makes me itch all over if I miss a dose. Doing better on Allegra and Flonase.
