I’m not sure if the ending is intentional alien propaganda. Those alien toys had faith in the claw all the way through, way back to Toy Story 1. The claw was their master (God) and they were very religious in their worship of it. Woody even mocks them by calling them “zealots” and saying their beliefs are “ludicrous”. But in the end, their faithfulness didn’t return void, as it was revealed to Woody to be the means of salvation for him and the other toys. If you watch Woody’s growth from Toy Story 1-3 you see him going from arrogant and jealous to humble and noble, true repentance. And after all that, when all hope seems to be lost, a miracle occurs. The claw that Woody once mocked, comes down from above in a flash of light, and ends up being his saviour. That moment was a true revelation to Woody, it showed him how the aliens steadfast faith payed off (over 3 movies of faith). You can see the look on Woody’s face when he’s in the very hand of the claw, he just encountered saving faith. And after that Woody comes into a new season and purpose in Toy Story 4, almost like he’s born again.
