@dr_inna: Is Kimberly Kitzerow not enough, do we really need someone else who apparently does not understand research methods and research process at all pretending expertise? For more details on this “study” plan, see work by @Kaligirwa who has a lot better grasp on research than Nicole ever had.
That everyday "influencers" feel empowered to conduct scientic research without scientific skills is appalling. Thank you for offering safeguards. 👏👏👏

The sampling bias is horrific.

When I learned that her “research supervisor with over 40 years of experience” was her mom, I lost what little confidence I had left in this project. The entire research team appears to consist of just the two of them. No external oversight.
Collaborating on a children’s book is one thing. Collaborating on research involving autistic people, people with cPTSD, and thousands of potentially vulnerable participants is something else entirely.

The amount of research being conducted using social media surveys these days is actually alarming. Some are even making it into journals. 😳

But can’t CPTSD “mimic” autism anyway? Like I got autism suggested as a possibility because of my CPTSD and OCD looking similar.

The goal for “Now through October” is wild. You’d think you’d have already done an extensive look at the “literature” already.

The glaring hole in this theory (among others) is...we all have needs. And the majority of people will have unmet needs at some level. So why is it enough to cause cPTSD in Autistic individuals but not anyone else?
Seems more likely (and more substantiated) that some of the behavior that commonly occurs alongside Autism (wandering, communication delay, increased medical exposures, dietary issues, exposure to behavior like aggression and self injury) may lead to cPTSD.

I’m going to do a research study about people in a fast food drive thru lane. I think hunger is built when nutritional needs aren’t met. I was surprised by how many of the people in drive thru lanes were interested in participating.

I always thought the biggest challenge of diagnosing adults with any neurodivergency that was not observed in childhood is that all of the symptoms can also be caused by trauma. I'm not a scientist, happy to be corrected.

The amount of people in her comments who say they’ve signed up is frankly concerning. There is no ethical and technical oversight, she basically dismissed providing exclusion criteria, and people’s personal and privileged information is at risk!

the way people don't understand how studies are conducted, ethics, and data collection methods... they're collecting a number of anecdotal samples and think they've done something lol
