@4b.forever0: Why Taylor Swift still seems like a teenager at 36… but she’s not the only woman stuck in this mindset! It’s actually fairly common for women who miss out on normal development as individuals due to heteronormativity, marriage, and motherhood. Taylor may have it all, but she doesn’t have true freedom. She doesn’t even have the freedom to consider walking away from it all or even just scaling back. She’s a slave to the system now. I have empathy for her. I think she would’ve thrived in college and been an even better writer because of it. I’m very skeptical of her parents though, especially her dad.

She has been a slave to the machine and her parents for as long as she’s been famous. I truly believe she wanted to be with Matty for years and when she finally got the opportunity, her parents threatened with “if it blows up, do exactly what we say” and when it blew up due to the fans, her parents set up the Travis fairytale which is why it feels so inauthentic to so many people.

I think that artists like Olivia Rodrigo are important and likely to out last Taylor Swift. Olivia from 13 to 16 years old, she was a co-lead in Bizaardvark. From 16 to 19 years old, she was in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Somewhere between Bizaardvark ending and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series filming, she was writing and working on her debut album Sour, which was released when she was 18. Her following two albums have both explored love songs, but they have grown alongside her instead of getting stuck on high school love story songs.

i agree with your take and i think thats why i like 1989 the most because the songs on that album dont really mention being a teenager and has themes that someone in college can relate to

As someone who also suffers from arrested development due to an overprotected childhood, I feel her. It’s a normal reaction to not being able to live out your young adulthood.

Taylor’s childhood stopped at 16yo, so her brain development got stunted at that age….hence she is stuck in permanent arrested development. Just my opinion. This is also why instead of her engaging with her own contemporaries, other women who came up with her in this business, she gravitates towards very young artists…ie Gracie Abram’s, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina carpenter, etc

the amount of times she’s said she’s never gone to therapy or that she uses her mom as therapy is YIKES ON BIKES. talk about enmeshment. but i’ve heard a theory that celebrities tend to stay at the mental age they were when they got famous, and this tracks for her. UGH. it’s just so frustrating to see her over and over change her personality to match whoever she’s dating. it makes me SO thankful for my growth and healing as someone just a bit older than her.

All of these people defending Taylor with their lives need to chill. We can have nuanced conversations about any celebrity without being attacked

say what you want but at the end of the day she's a grown woman taking advantage of people to line her and her people's pockets, she's not some innocent person she knows exactly whats going on

hmmm. Makes some sense, but not total sense. Imagine how many celebrities has the same situation as taylor. I mean, a lot of them got famous very young, and they never got into college. This doesn't mean that you cannot get personal development. I never and i will never think that college is a necessity for your own personal development, it's insane to think like that.

i think one of the reasons fame never spoiled her like it did to britney is bc her parents protected her! taylor never caught into dangerous behaviors bc her mom was always there protecting her child

One of the reasons I love BDILH so much is that it really explores feeling stunted and being self-aware about it. I struggle to feel like a fully formed adult a lot so I really related to the song. I think TTPD in general explores how fame negatively impacted Taylor in a very deep way. Which is interesting to hear because Taylor traditionally has avoided complaining about fame, but I think with TTPD she really shows the truth about how she feels about it.

People can get married young & go through all sorts of trials & personal growth. women I know have married young & ended up running their own businesses etc. This is such a middle-class take. the idea of married women as "infants" is fucking laughable.
