@destrrooy: The Evrard burial chapel was built for the affluent couple Léonce Evrard and Louise Flignot. Originally from France, they moved to Laeken in 1891, and after their deaths in 1916 and 1919, respectively, they were laid to rest in this chapel. Léonce, a marble worker, was so deeply affected by his wife's passing that he crafted this distinctive mausoleum in her memory. Designed by architect George de Larabrie, the neoclassical chapel is a hexagonal structure adorned with a statue of a grieving woman, sculpted by Pierre Theunis. Each year, around the summer solstice, sunlight casts a heart-shaped shadow inside the chapel-a poignant symbol of everlasting love that transcends death. This mysterious light display, which was not part of the original design, adds an enchanting and timeless element to the chapel.
