@i.hannajung: How I secured 6 research projects that got me into med school (BS/MD) with ZERO connections #medicine #medschool #medical #research #highschool
Hi! I’m attending YYGS this summer and wanted to know a bit more about how you achieved your research position through that. How were you able to end up receding the lab tour?

My question is that research could be done in school months for cold emailing. I have good research but is this only for summer or could this be done in school

When cold emailing, how much knowledge do you think you need in a subject or necessary skills needed prior to doing research in order to actually contribute to a group and be useful?

Hi! I’m currently a freshman doing stem research starting this month through a summer student-lead program. I got in through an application process (free program) and were assigned to small teams of 3 that will work with profs and mentors. My group will be working under an associate prof at Yale med school with a phd. The best team at the end will be selected for an internship at the profs research lab. And I don’t know if this is js one of those nonprofit-instagram-passion-project type things, is this good to do? I’m super new to the research world, pls help me out! 💕

Could you do a video on how to talk during the interviews and how to gain those connections with your teachers/professors because I feel like I have a really bad connection experience trying to connect with them and talking about their work

Do you need to know data analysis before emailing professors, or can you go into lab research with no prior experience?

Hi. I'm a transfer student. I moved from Nigeria to the U.S. in my 11th grade. So, yh, my case was pretty much similar to urs. I have an interest in STEM. I signed up for the STEM summer Bridge 2026 program at Bristol College. One of the main reasons was that they had summer research, and I said I wanted to partake. My future career goal is to become a doctor, and I'm thinking of majoring in biology or biomedical engineering. I just wanted to ask, do u think this is a good idea or am I cooked? I really don't know wat the research is about. Anyways, thanks. Pls, if u have any additional advice, I'll appreciate 'em.

how did you have time to fit in 6 research projects in those 3 years? And do you think it’s more valuable to do multiple projects or expand on one project?

Hi! I’m currently a freshman and I live abroad where I don’t have many opportunities such as meeting with professors and they are usually not very welcoming towards freshmen since they’re really young and may not understand the procedure very well. Do you think I should apply even it’s the middle of the june, and how can find professors to work with? I know I’m asking for too much it’s just because I’m not really familiar with these things 😞😞

Will this work as an upcoming Grade 11 student in Canada? I am deeply interested in research and biomedical engineering, but I don't really know how to start with extracurricular/research opportunities related to my interests. Should I just stick with summer research programs that could be competitive as well? Because I am enrolled in a university's summer research program called RISE for Health.
