I lost someone recently. And I did not want to be quiet about it here, because this space has always been about truth. 🤍 I did not sit down to do a reading this week. I just reached for my cards the way you reach for something familiar when everything else feels uncertain. And what came out stopped me. The Death card. And The Star. The Death card in the middle of real grief is not ironic or cruel. It is, in my experience, one of the most honest cards the tarot can offer. It does not pretend. It does not soften. It simply says: yes. This is real. This loss is real. And it is allowed to be. There is something quietly powerful about having that reflected back to you when the world around you is already moving on. When people are asking how you are and you say fine because it is easier. The Death card does not ask you to be fine. It asks you to be true. And then The Star. Sitting right beside it. The Star is not a promise that the grief will end quickly or that everything will be resolved. She is something quieter than that. She is the reminder that light does not disappear when you cannot see it. That hope is not the same as happiness. That something in you, something beneath the weight of all of this, is still intact. I have read tarot for over twenty years. And I still reach for my cards when I do not have words. Not for answers. Not for predictions. Just for company. If you are grieving something right now, whether it is a person, a relationship, a version of your life that is no longer there, I want you to know that you do not need a question to pull a card. You just need to reach for it. Let it sit with you. Let it be enough. You are not alone in this. 🤍
