@chloe.roberts__: You can change your mind. About your relationship. About your career. About where you live. About the city you thought you'd stay in forever. About the version of yourself you've spent years trying to become. Somewhere along the way, we were taught that changing our minds meant we lacked commitment. That sticking it out was always the admirable thing to do. That if we'd already invested enough time, money or years into something, we owed it our future too. I don't believe that anymore. I think one of the bravest things you can do is admit that something no longer feels right, even if it once did. You're allowed to outgrow people. You're allowed to outgrow dreams. You're allowed to outgrow the life you once desperately wanted. You're allowed to start over at 26. Or 36. Or 56. Or 76. Because this is your life. And nobody else has to live it but you.
I started over at 29. The hardest part is grieving the life you THOUGHT you were going to have and the years you missed out on being happy.

I actually need to re read this caption over and over! It’s not always an easy process but I’m sure worth it in every aspect. ❤️

I started over at 31. I was married for 8 years, together for 10, I grieved the death of the life I saw with someone who didn’t think I was worth changing for. Falling in love with potential is dangerous. People always show you who they are

I tell people that I’ve lived a lot of lives and there is a great quote that goes “you don’t have to cling to a decision just because you spent a long time making it”

I sold everything I owned and moved to England last year at the age of 36. Decided it wasn’t the life for me and changed my mind…moved back to Seattle and while I’m so bummed I lost so much money and everything I owned for the most part, I’m glad I did it. I worked so hard and proved to myself that following my dreams was worth it. In the end, it just wasn’t for me though ☺️

The last photo I took after I left before separating before my divorce. I vividly remember sitting in my closet, bawling and writing a letter to my now ex husband. “ bigger than the whole sky” by Taylor swift was playing on my phone and I felt so defeated. Three years later and I’m so thankful that door closed and he’s out of my life. Blessing in disguise. Life has a funny way of knocking the wind out of your sails to show you what Your truly made out of ❤️

Thank you for so eloquently articulating this experience. Spent 10 yrs saving for a dream with a man that couldn’t love me and when I chose to love myself I had to say goodbye to all that was built along the way. I felt so silly for a long time Mori

I filed for divorce at 38, sold the house we built at 39, and I’m in my new apartment in my hometown in FL turning 40 on 6/26. It’s been hard but I know God has a plan for me.

I changed my mind about all of it at 33. Was it heart breaking? Yes. Was it also the best thing I ever did for myself? Yes. Zero regrets.

I really respect this post. It’s honest, and I think a lot of people need to hear these words which in the end will help them just as much as yourself! You are definitely someone with such a true heart! Remember all things happen for a reason and God has you wrapped in his most protective bubble gorgeous ❤️!

I started over at 27, lost everything including my job and moved back in with my parents. Now, two years later I have an incredible job that's much better than my previous one, my own place and someone who consistently shows me what it's like to be loved. Starting over is a blessing!! You got this ❤️
