@lostinserenities: June is commonly known for Pride Month, but it is also known for Scoliosis Awareness Month. The whole month is recognized as a global campaign to promote early detection and education on scoliosis, but there is also a specific day for scoliosis. International Scoliosis Awareness Day is observed annually on June 26. Scoliosis is actually pretty common! About 2–3% of people worldwide have scoliosis. That means roughly 1 in every 33–50 people has some form of scoliosis. In the United States, it's estimated that around 6–9 million people have scoliosis. Most cases are mild, and many people don't even realize they have it unless it's noticed during a checkup or causes symptoms. Scoliosis can occur at any age, but it's most commonly diagnosed during adolescence, especially between ages 10 and 15. Scoliosis can be caused by abnormal spinal development before birth, conditions that affect the muscles or nervous system, age-related changes in the spine, or other medical issues, but in most cases, especially in adolescents, the exact cause is unknown and is believed to involve genetic factors. Most people with scoliosis did not do anything to cause it. Things like carrying a heavy backpack, having poor posture, or sleeping in a certain position do not cause scoliosis. If you have scoliosis, remember that your condition does not define who you are or determine your worth. Many people with scoliosis live active, successful, and fulfilling lives. It is okay to feel insecure sometimes, but your body deserves kindness and appreciation for all it does for you. The curve in your spine is only one small part of your story, it does not make you less beautiful, less capable, or less valuable. You are more than your diagnosis, and you deserve to feel confident and proud of who you are. #fyp #ScoliosisAwareness #targetaudience #scoliosis #foryoupage
