We paid for private hospital plan for years but when I got a major illness, it was really worth it as all the bills was covered. Treatment in the private hospital was fast and aid in fast recovery.

I’m really confused . I’m left with 1month to decides. The premium is really high but I would like to keep my rider terms . But don’t mind paying the excess .

We call that pro-ration factor. If your plan is not entitled for private hospital but you choose to, then pro-ration factor will kick in. Eg. If pro-ration factor is 30%, then 70% is to be upfront borne by patient. The 30% is still subjected to deductible and co-insurance/co-payment
