@saysdotcom: Two soldiers were killed after an explosion occurred during a grenade-throwing exercise at the Hobart Camp firing range in Kedah today, 17 June. The victims were identified as Corporal Norazmi Abu Bakar from the 6th Battalion Royal Malay Regiment and Private Siti Khadijah Sungip from the 1st Squadron Royal Engineers Regiment. Both were rushed to hospital following the incident but died on the way. In a statement, the army said the explosion happened during a training exercise conducted as part of the Royal Engineers Regiment's Combat Enhancement Training programme under the 2nd Infantry Division. Army chief General Tan Sri Azhan Md Othman has ordered an investigation into the incident and extended his condolences to the families of the two deceased soldiers.
