@christian.grossi: American traveler shocked by new rules in Japan The last time I visited Japan it was a completely different world. It felt busy with tourists but not to the level it is now. Also Japan is now more diverse then before. Many hotels and convenience stores have non Japanese workers. But I can’t help but noticed these new rules mainly focused on restaurants. Maybe it’s because Japanese people are more shy so they don’t want photos of the restaurant. But the no sharing of food is bizarre to me #fyp #tellme #traveltiktok #japan #tokyo
You influencers film people without consent. Not everyone wants to be on camera.

Photography of people or placed can be a problem unless you get permission. However, nobody has ever said anything about me taking pictures of food. I’ve never been to a place where we can’t share food. That being said, we always get at least 2 dishes. However, if we’re there for drinks we might get just one snack to share.

Some restaurants in the US will charge a share plate fee. It's not common but it does happen, I've personally experienced it.

if you're going to a restaurant and not eating you are taking away the seating spot from an eating customer
probably

I think no filming in restaurants is a good thing for courtesy to other customers as well it's nice not to have influencers filming things all the time. it boggles my mind that people that film stuff don't understand that other people might not like it all the time

I can understand not sharing a meal, but what if I want to taste a bite of something someone else ordered, just a taste, not a shared plate?

The other new thing in Tokyo is the fines for littering and the fines for food establishments not having trash cans now

I went to a ramen shop with my friends and my friend was not hungry. I think it’s common for a couple to order a ramen with side dishes. They asked me to order one ramen per person at least.

idk im japanese and ive never heard of them as "the new rules". those are just for specific places youve been to depending on the business owner. the 2nd one about filiming could happen anywhere in the world. most ppl are not comfortable with influencers taking videos.

I’m at a place maybe once in my life and ofc I’d want to get different dishes to try them all. It’s not like they give you them for free, you paid for it and can do whatever you want. I’m not even obligated to eat 🤷🏻♀️

You can share but you must order 1 main per person . Photography is for the privacy of other customers.

I don't recall if the post I saw was a US policy or where it was, but they said that you have to order a beverage you cannot just have water.

Also, hotel booking is by number of people per night . You can’t pay by room so no 1 fixed price.
