let me just clarify something, first of all allah told us to follow the prophet as well. the argument some of you are presenting is that it's fabricated information about the prophet but here's the thing. Hadiths are dealt with very carefully, meaning that the sahaba who heard it from the prophet reported it to the generation after them, and that generation reported it to the generation after them and so on. so no those arent random people just saying anything, those are people who studied, learnt and took those hadiths from people of previous generations. the classification of hadiths right now are put because some people did try to fabricate things as if the prophet pbuh said them. now here comes the role of actually studying hadith, many scholars sit together and start looking into the history of the person who said it, did he lie, was he known for his excelence in memorising, was this the only hadith he reported about the prophet or were there other hadiths reported, how much time did he spend with the prophet and so on. then comes the studying of the words and phrases in hadiths, some phrases are too extreme for a certain matter, some are too fragile to be used by the prophet pbuh and so on. so much more goes into studying the hadiths to make sure we recieve the correct of them and not the fabricated ones. so please, dont just say you wouldnt follow hadith because you dont trust the words reported on behalf of the prophet, because thats how we have the quran today. it was documented when the prophet was alive and memorised by many people until it reached us. again, the reason hadith has classifications unlike the quran is because hadith is the word of the prophet, the word of a human, so yes it could get fabricated. and that's why there are scholars who specialise in studying the hadith to know if it's true or not. if you wanna claim that the hadiths we have today are wrong, then go study hadith and then make a statement, otherwise we must leave it to the people who actually specialise in it.
