@pipthebabysquirrel: This attack was brutal, and honestly, I don’t know how he survived. Caspian is fighting infection and bone-deep wounds, and this is only the beginning of a long road to recovery. We return Wednesday for a dressing change and to monitor the infection. I left the vet feeling scared and defeated. These are never expenses I plan for, yet somehow these babies always find their way to me when they need help most. And once they do, I’m committed to giving them every chance I can. ♥️ I’ve seen miracles with these little souls before, and I’m praying for one now for Caspian. look at this gray squirrel. he survived a brutal hawk attack. this photo is about 2 months post attack. I will post a before photo in a reply to this. this is a female who had pups in this photo. her left ear tilts down, neurological im sure. there is still a hole healing in the chest and a visible puncture healed in back of head. the entire throat was gasped. im surprised she survived.
