@artbyahmaad: The City of Shaheens x Kinnow ft. @Laraib Zahra Long before it became the fighter jet capital of Pakistan or the "California of Pakistan" for its endless oranges, this land was a quiet, barren land. This city was built in the 19th century as a part of planned city including Faisalabad and Islamabad. When the British took control of the subcontinent, they were using the area as per their needs and whatever the benefit they found they took advantage of it. But before it, the land of Sargodha was famous for a Hindu Sadhu who was called Godha. He used to serve water to travelers from a well which we called ‘Sar’ in Sanskrit. From there, people called that place ‘Sargodha’. The place where that Hindi Sandu sat is now called Gol Chakar and a huge masjid is now located there. If we go deep, we can see the pre-partition masterpiece in the old Sargodha city, the houses, the temples and the gurdwara. All these places draw the canvas of how Hindus and Sikh lived there. But the lady who made this barren and jungle land into a modern city was Lady Topper. She not just made it into a city but also made it a part of a few planned cities of Pakistan. Nowadays, if we talk about Sargodha, what comes first in mind is the City of Shaheens and even before this comes the Kinnow who was the reason this city is called “California of Pakistan”. Due to its strategic military importance and its prestigious Pakistan Air Force (PAF) base.
