Try making a weekly schedule outings and activities are listed. That way the kids can look forward to them and unscheduled time can be anticipated. Make a list of ideas of things they can do for the unscheduled time. That way all you have to do is say go choose something from the list. Those things can be as simple as; go for a bike ride, play with your Barbies, play trucks outside making roads out of rocks and stocks, draw pictures, play computer games, jump on the trampoline, read books, etc. etc.. Chores should be built into the weekly schedule as well. Having structured responsibility is a great way to fill time and gives kids a great sense of accomplishment, even if they don’t want to do it.
