تعتبر ساعة مكة المكرمة أكبر ساعة برجية في العالم، وأحد أبرز المعالم المعمارية والتقنية الحديثة التي تتربع على قمة برج مجمع أبراج البيت بارتفاع يصل إلى 601 متراً مقابل المسجد الحرام. وتتميز هذه الساعة الضخمة بأربع واجهات عملاقة يفوق قطرها 43 متراً، مما يجعلها أكبر بنحو ستة أضعاف من ساعة بين بن الشهيرة، وتتحرك عليها عقارب ضخمة تزن أطناناً، حيث يبلغ طول عقرب الدقائق 22 متراً وعقرب الساعات 17 متراً، ليتسنى للجميع رؤيتها وقراءة الوقت من مسافات بعيدة جداً داخل العاصمة المقدسة. تتجاوز أهمية الساعة مجرد ضبط الوقت، إذ صُممت لتكون مرجعاً زمنياً يمثل توقيت مكة المكرمة للعالم الإسلامي، وتنبض بالروحانية مع كل أذان، حيث تنطلق من أعلاها حزم ضوئية وليزرية باللونين الأبيض والأخضر تصل إلى مدى 30 كيلومتراً، وتضاء واجهاتها المزينة بالزخارف الإسلامية وعبارة
