So here’s something interesting. I don’t have blue jays in my yard. But when i walk my dogs down the street I hear them everywhere. That’s how i know what they sound like. VERY rarely I’ll hear one nearby, but if I go down the street I can bet on it.

I’m very in tune with the birds in my yard bc I am out here all the time for hours and just have picked up on things… like I know if one of my cats is approaching me in my garden the singing stops and the alarms start, I also here the alarms during times my cats unfortunately got one of them, and when a hawk is in the area. Today I noticed something was up but time, there were blue jays like crazy, more than normal, and I confirmed with your videos the calls were alarm calls. It became obvious to me that they were clearly trying to talk to me when these two got this close and were loud loud. I have an organic garden and I know they love the bugs and I’m normally not out here this time of day so I wonder if they were annoyed with me lol, or I put a new feeder out for the crows and a bird bath, perhaps they wanted to get to that but I was too close for their comfort, or maybe a hawk was in the area bc this went on for over an hour like hours . No singing like I normally hear just loud alarm calls from all the birds, I also noticed a whole bunch of crows flying above (which is new first time seeing this this week) all crowing… I finally decided to throw some of the good food I have into the field for them and I didn’t see them go to it but the alarm calls just stopped right around the same time. This behavior with the blue jays getting on my fence while I was so close and flapping their wings and doing their loudest calls really felt to me that they were trying to communicate something with me bec it’s. It a normal thing they do.
