Just change out the drain valve with a regular ³/⁴ shut off valve and threads, dont need a special too after that

I have this…works great. Just make sure you open your hot water taps. But it works much better and the don’t get the same build up on my showers

I’ve never claimed find out and there’s some kind of rod in there that you’re supposed to take out. I’ve never done that either.
