@swimperfect.co: It’s summertime. Watch your kids attentively around water - be sober and stay off your phone! Yes swim lessons give parents a huge peace of mind but accidents happen. Kids can hit their head, panic, pass out etc, it’s your job to keep them safe. And if you’re reading this and don’t have a lockable pool fence… it’s time. #watersafety #misscallie #swimlessons #poolsafety #swimmingsafety

Hi Miss Callie! I have an almost 7 month old and we are going to put him in swimming classes in the next few months. Im doing what I can with making him comfortable in water and he’s at the point where he loves it once he gets over the shock of it being cold but we’re struggling with him being on his back in water. How do I make him comfortable with this? He screams and wants to be picked up immediately. I’ve been working him in 30 second intervals with it but I’m not sure if it’s going to make swim lessons easier or harder for his instructor

I’m so curious I see your videos every so often, just followed, but like how do you make sure they don’t hit their heads against the wall of the pools? There might be a video on your page I haven’t seen, sorry 😭

Miss Callie, I was hoping to get some more of your feedback about boating/open water safety. I saw in another video you did mention sometimes life jackets are okay, would this be the instances you are referring to? Obviously the ideal situation would be to not take babies/children out on boats/in open water without having any survival swim lessons first but I would think that the difference of leisure pool time varies greatly from open water experiences- I would love to see a video and hear more from you on this topic as a whole 🥰

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Swim lessons are great but it’s important to avoid a situation in which they’re needed, regardless of

You should watch Emilie Kiser’s episode on Jay Shetty’s podcast. She emphasizes the importance of all of this.

Question!! I really wanna put my 8 month old in swim lessons at some point. We don’t have a pool and the closest pool to us is about 45mins away so we only swim a handful of times during the summer. Will baby forget? Should I wait til he’s a little older?

It baffles me that there’s no laws surrounding pool fencing in the US. I’m from Australia and you legally can’t build a pool without a safety barrier!

We have a fence, alarm, cover and just got life preserves and other rescue equipment. All bases covered regardless of how skilled one might be. Its like saying "you passed drivers ed now you dont need a seatbelt". Have all the safety in place. My scariest water experience was white water kayaking.

Doing swim lessons in our home pool 1x/week with our 18-month-old and we're only on lesson #3. She cries and lifts her head and legs every single time we try a back float. We practice almost every non-rainy day in between lessons (4x+/week), but it still feels like torture every time. Any tips? Will she eventually just get it and relax?

yes literally this. Also most lifeguards are not paying attention to your child 90% of the time and you have no clue how seriously they’ve been trained

And make sure who ever is with your kid, that you trust them to keep your kid safe!!! Thankfully I was there and my husband, but I learned I don’t trust my father in law with my kids safety!! He was supposed to catch my kid, and he didn’t!! 😤

We JUST had a 2-3 year old almost die in a public pool because their mom was off along the fence talking to her friends and not watching her child. Thankfully, another adult flagged a lifeguard and was able to save that child’s life
