@laurie.parris.rcic: I heard some people's citizenship certificates are being put on hold. while the government investigates their documents, here's my thoughts on it #canadiancitizenship #BillC3 #canadiancitizenshipbydescent #citizenshipbydescent
Honestly, just imagine all the fraud they're finding, there's definitely a reason this is happening 🤔

I sent for a certification package over a month ago for $75, haven't seen anything yet! Are they just overwhelmed or is it a scam.

I’m personally waiting to see how all of this plays out before deciding to apply, but I am following the two big social media groups (Facebook and Reddit) where people who got the letter were writing in over the weekend. Many of them *did* have official documents coming from the issuing source. Some had Ancestry records, but many did have the official ones.

I ordered and received all certified documents. I’m getting ready to do the application now. Do I submit the actual documents or send in high quality color copies?

We need to get rid of Bill C-3. Granting citizenship to random Americans bc their great great grandfather was born in Canada is insane!

Thank goodness I did that. Someone told me my ancestry records were good enough and I wasn’t buying it. I ordered ALL certificates.

What about census records downloaded from Library and Archives Canada? That’s considered the source authority. Does the LAC issue certified copies?

No one will answer this question for me. I have the G0 baptism record for my second great grandfather born in 1838 in Quebec that I got from FamilySearch. It is the handwritten one in French and it states his parents, etc. I also found my husband’s G0’s baptism record on Family Search. He was born in Quebec in 1820. I tried finding them in the BNaQ website and spent a lot of time but could not locate them. Can I send the BNaQ the printouts from FamilySearch and hope they can locate them and send me certified records? I understand this will cost us a lot of money. What I don’t understand is why the ones from FamilySearch can’t be accepted when what the BNaQ will find are those same pages. Before I spend that money I first need to get my husband’s great grandfather’s baptism record that would have been in Michigan. The Archdiocese of Detroit isn’t going to start working on the requests until July 1 and they said seventy requests are ahead of mine so it could be another six months. If they come back saying they can’t find it then I have nothing other than a US census record from 1850 showing him in Michigan with his parents. He was born in Mt Clemens, MI in 1849. I could go to the Burton Library because they are supposed to have these old baptisms on microfilm but they would not be certified. Should I just wait for the Archdiocese? I need the one for my great grandfather too although a friend found it on Ancestry. It seems logical that I wait for the certified records before spending hundreds of dollars for those two G0 baptism records. Also the State of Michigan couldn’t locate my husband’s grandmother’s birth certificate and said if I send $12 in thirty days they can search a different year. Well today I found a record of her birth on FamilySearch. Her last name was spelled wrong but it is clearly her because the parents match. I’m going to pay twelve dollars and tell them the year and the correct spelling and now I know the exact date and hopefully they can find her birth certificate. I have spent a lot of time and money on this and I’m learning to be patient.

thank you. I agree that documents need to be certified. mine were and so far I haven't received the letter. however, the fact that they were approved in the first place seems to.place the blame squarely on the IRCC and I think it is horrible.
