Just My Opinion :
As a foster carer myself, I would personally wait until your son is a bit older. Sometimes you have to prioritise your foster child to get them to and from family time etc and it can be hard for your own child to understand that. My daughter was 7 when we fostered a baby and while she loved the experience I don’t think she would have coped as well had she been much younger. That said, I know some people do foster with a young child of their own and it works for them x

We started fostering after adopting our little boy, recently adopted our baby girl who came to us at 4 days old. The BEST decision we ever made. Wish you all the luck and love in the world, it's amazing 🥰

Amazing news, I would recommend fostering for your local authority rather than an agency. If you haven’t yet decided. Babies usually aren’t placed with agency carers and they will use their own in house carers first. Not always but most of the time. X good luck with your next chapter 🥰

Surely you can’t start with 0-2? They usually make you have older children first as there’s SO many foster carers for babies and toddlers and it’s something you usually get to do with time x

Do you have to give up work to do this? I’d be really keen to do this for 0-2, but wondered how it would work financially as I would still need a revenue stream to support our mortgage and bills so that’s always put me off

I take my hat off to you, the whole assessment process again?! Totally fine if you’d prefer not to answer, but are you fostering for the agency your little one’s FC’s foster for? Are they able to use any of the adoption assessment forms to aid the fostering assessment or are you starting again from scratch?!

I would love to do this. Are you thinking to foster babies before they are reunited with family or adopted? Also how does this work having your “own” son who is an enfant. My son is 3 and I was advised to wait until he’s older and not to foster younger kids than his age if that makes sense x
