Getting sharp images of your pet can be a challenge. I end up with plenty of out-of-focus photos too, but here are a few tips to help you get more sharp images. 📷✨ You definitely don't have to focus manually. I just find it easiest with my camera, and I'm used to taking photos this way. Sometimes I fall back on (single point) autofocus too. A lot of modern cameras actually have automatic eye-tracking autofocus thingies, which can make things a lot easier. Although, unfortunately, they often don't work on guinea pigs. But enough intro text, here are some tips. It really helps to keep your shutter speed at least at 1/500th of a second. Guinea pigs, and pets in general, move around a lot, so you don't want to end up with motion blur. 📷 I used to be someone who loved shooting at f/1.4 or f/1.8. But... that's just making things a lot harder for yourself. At such a low aperture, you have a very, very, very shallow depth of field, so even the slightest movement from either you and your camera or your pet can result in an unsharp image. And don't get me wrong, for some setups, a low aperture is a must, especially if you want a very blurry background and don't have much room to work with. Sometimes the setup is also perfectly suited for it because your pet can't move around very much. But generally, it's an added challenge, so I would just bump the aperture up to f/2.0. These camera settings aren't set in stone, though. They also depend on the lens you're using, the distance between you and your subject, and... I could go on and on and on about this. 😂 Think of these settings as a starting point and experiment to see what works best for your particular setup. And honestly, sometimes I'm also just very lucky, especially when a guinea pig makes a quick movement that just happens to be in the area that's in focus. ✨ There are some software programs on the market that can sharpen photos that are just a bit out of focus. But a very blurry image unfortunately often cannot be saved. #guineapig #petphotography #meerschweinchenliebe #guineapigsoftiktok
