@queenn_gee: As far as privileges being taken away that can be no tv for the rest of the day, or toy time, or simply canceling the ice cream treat he was going to receive. If your child is slamming doors constantly you can remove the door for a day or two (I’ve never done but it has worked for other families). The responses will differ depending on your child’s age. Toddlers may just need more reminders and good role modeling, older kids may need more explaining, a consequence, a re-try, or a break before talking to cool down. ••• #parenting #disrespect #kids #respectfulparenting
We’re in a redo phase. You stomp away when I tell you to go do something? Come back to me and start over. Huffing and puffing? Come back, take a deep breath then start over! Coming out of time out hot? Go back in for a minute & redo it.

Your parenting skills are teaching him to exercise emotional intelligence instead of copping out with a temper tantrum. The difference is the patience and structure gives him the tools to better his understanding of how to handle situations that don’t go his way. He will have successful and mature relationships with others as well as himself aside from his own ego. Kids crave structure as their brains don’t know what to understand as appropriate or inappropriate behaviors. You are setting him up well mama great, great job on your part. 🥰🥰🥰

do you ever feel like your over micromanaging his behavior? sometimes I watch my son play with his friends and I feel like every 2 seconds im telling him not to do something and I'm sure it's over whelming.

Bravo mom! It’s crazy how adults don’t understand that actions like this only escalate situations. It’s great to teach kids how to manage their emotions and communicate in a healthy way.

Yes my grand daughter is being taught the same, how to manage emotions and things she can do to help her calm down. We allow her to experience her emotions and express what and how she feels but let her know its not okay to hurt others because she is upset or angry.

I FULLY AGREE!!! I used Magic 123. It helped me. That said, my twins teen years I was a horrible yeller. There’s a book called “how to raise an adult”, also helped me.

I taught my sons something similar. Communication and making them understand how to regulate their emotions are so key! I had 3 sons and we had honesty Friday where they could openly tell me things with no consequences! When I tell you the freedom of expression and communication from them was diabolical, but I loved it. 🤭🤭🤭

Some adults need to hear this. But my mom did that with me and it is very beneficial in my adult life.

You are doing a great job by stopping these actions young before they grow into something bigger and hard to control. Great job!
